Demolition

Euro Decommissioning Services

eds is highly experienced in the demolition of structures and plant which have reached the end of their working life. This must be carried out with a high degree of knowledge and expertise. The demolition techniques used include conventional, remote mechanical and the use of controlled explosive charges.

BS6187 (2000) the code of pactice for demolition states the standards which must be applied to the planning and execution of demolition activities. This code of practise also outlines industry best practise with regards to techniques and safety management requirements.

The eds team has significant expertise in all aspects of demolition from initial budget costing through structural assessment to the final completion.
Typical demolition projects carried out by eds include:

Multi-storey concrete buildings, Steel and concrete chimneys, Manufacturing plants, Chemical/ Phartmaceutical facilities, High rise steel structures, Factory buildings, Heavy reinforced concrete structures, Process plants, Large storage tanks, Strip out of premises for refurbishment, Facade retention....

Managing Safety
The methods of work employed by eds are selected on minimising risk and maximising the quantity of materials from the structures, which are recycled. This is facilitated by the pre-planning of demolition work sequences followed by careful segregation of materials at each stage of the work.
All methods of work are selected following an initial risk assessment at tender stage by our experienced Management Team. Following the initial assessment, a complex structure will require the services of a consulting structural engineer who specialises in the analysis of structures which are undergoing demolition; either by tradional methods or controlled explosive demoltion.
Our ongoing investment in the latest plant and equipment technology results in a safer and more environmentally friendly service. We endeavour to reduce the need for personnel to work at close quarters to the structure being demolished, thus resulting in a safer working environment.

The use of high-tech equipment minimises environmental emissions in the form of noise and vibration. Specialised demolition shears are used for the cutting and processing of heavy steel sections, avoiding the need for traditional hot cutting methods and the associated inherent risks this process carries.
eds ensure that stringent management controls and monitoring procedures are applied to maintain our excellent safety record. Health, safety, quality and the environment are paramount for eds. Many demolition projects have been successfully carried out in close proximity to sensitive areas such as live operating plants, residential areas and public places such as roads, railway lines and footpaths.
