Dismantling

Euro Decommissioning Services

eds consider that to differentiate between dismantling and demolition is very important. It is a common misconception that they are one and the same thing.
Dismantling is generally achieved by a careful reversal of the construction process. This is applicable to either the removal of mechanical installations or the 'un-building' of structures.

A combination of dismantling and demolition is often beneficial as it permits the recovery of assets, enabling these to be re-used or sold to offset client's relocation or closure costs and meet overall business restructuring objectives.

The scope of dismantling projects carried out by eds include-

  • Refining/Processing Plant
  • Pharmaceutical/Chemical Equipment
  • High-rise Steel Structures
  • Factory Manufacturing Equipment
  • Packaging Lines
  • Storage Tanks & Silos
  • Textiles Machines
  • Food Processing Equipment

eds have successfully completed many complex projects including the dismantling of fire-damaged plant and structures. Our management are experts at planning, co-ordinating and executing projects with critical programme constraints.

    Tailored Working Methods

Our unparalled experience of carrying out work in close proximity to live equipment and 'on-line' plant environments allows us to tailor our working methods to minimise any effects on the day to day operation of the client's facilities. Dismantling usually necessitates the planning and use of mobile cranes. We use our in-house expertise to plan and carry out such operations in full compliance with BS 7121/Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (L.O.L.E.R). The calculations of weight, the effects of wind and ground loadings are some of the items considered when planning any lifting operation.

Our skilled and trained workforce utilise typical techniques such as unbolting and cold cutting using the company's full range of specialist equipment:-

Hydraulic Shears, Wrenches, Nibblers, Reciprocating and band saws, Jacks, Skates, Forklift trucks, Non Sparking Tools, Lifting Equipment, Orbital Lathes, Water Jet Cutters......

All plant and equipment is selected dependant on operational conditions and can be pneumatic, hydraulic, electric, diesel or gas powered. Flameproof plant and equipment is also available for work in potentially flammable atmospheres.
